Clarity Atlas is designed to meet WCAG 2.2 Level AA for every public and staff workflow.
How the site works for everyone
Every map has a table and a chart that show the same numbers, so nothing is available only by color or only by pointer. Legends state the classification method and the class ranges. Color ramps are chosen for contrast and for common forms of color-vision deficiency, and the selection outline is a shape change as well as a color change.
All controls work with a keyboard: tab through the toolbar, the catalog and the detail panel; the view tabs switch between map, table, chart, scatterplot and histogram. Form fields have visible labels and error messages. Focus is always visible. Text can be zoomed to 200% and the layout reflows on a phone without horizontal scrolling.
Screen readers receive the map as an image with a description of the indicator and value range, and the table view as a real table with sortable column headers.
